PESCHICI

Clung
to a crag falling steeply into the sea, Peschici
is a typical Mediterranean village, with its white houses bathed with
dazzling light.
Located in the northernmost end of the coast, Peschici
looks over the coastline from Rodi Garganico to Calalunga
and you can catch a glimpse of the Tremiti Islands and Pelagosa
in the distance.
Peschici's origins date back to the 970 c., when a Slavonic chief
was asked by Emperor Otto the Great I to fight off the Saracens.
Saint Elias is the patron
saint of the city and the spiritual benchmark for all the people in
Peschici. Many celebrations dedicated
to this saint are held on 19, 20 and 21 July. |
